Whats this Abt fanfic.net shutting down????
So recently it was going around that the mods of FFNet were planning on shutting down the site, but apparently the rumour goes around once a year or so. Either way, it’s a good idea to back up the fics you want to hold onto anyway! Though some people have reported that they can’t access it anymore, so I guess it might actually be happening. I can still access it on the mobile site, but yeah, not 100 on it. :P
Either way, FFNet is very inferior to AO3, so I won’t be surprised if it does finally die for good. I’ve backed up my own fics on there, just in case :P
My latest cartoon for New Scientist
fun fact: if you pirated six full length albums from your favourite band, listened to them all back to back 5 times, and then sent them $20 on ko-fi or whatever, on average they would have earned slightly more money per play than they’d get from you streaming the same shit with ads on spotify.
invariably when I talk about media piracy people are like “but what!!! about creators!!! they need to make a living!!!” my homey in romey if you’re that worried about it send your favourite artist $5 right now. do it. shut the fuck up.
I want to support artists but I can ONLY do it if I’m being drip fed shittier and shittier versions of the content a tech executive thinks I want. I have no choice in the matter because uhhhhhh other people won’t pay for things if they’re free. yeah that’s right. other people are the problem.
here’s the piracy secret big media don’t want you to know: you can always give artists money if you want to.

does it bother you that people come to your askbox more to rant about whatever than to talk to you? Where did it start? What was your blog like before? Do you wish people would go somewhere else?

I could always turn off anon asks, and 90% would disappear instantly.
The change is hilarious. I always made the occasional viral meta post, but I mostly yelled about The Man from UNCLE or Miami Vice or reblogged pictures of Adam Beach or whatever. I’ve had a tumblr since 2010, but I wasn’t that active most years.
I made graphs a while ago… Let’s see…
